Historical hints
Florence
North-Area – the Mugelllo & Sieve valley
– was under Guidi’s Family control; this
about XI Century. They built many castles all around
those hills, and the ‘Monte Farm’s most
ancient part of the plant is still one of control
tower, that took part of the Fornello castle –
now there are just some ruins.
The Monte Farm is between Fiesole’s Castle and
Fornello’s one, very close to Torre Decima.
Those castles are along an old Etruscan path, once
connecting to Fiesole, the main town in the area at
those days.

The
feudal organization was overcome by The rising of Firenze
Common. This one arranged the lands as leghe and the
lords were substituted by aristocratical Families from
Firenze, as Albizzi, Pazzi, Portinari, Gondi, Guadagni.
They renovated the old mansions and started producing
goods like olive oil, wine and cereals.
The ‘Monte Farm’ belonged to marquis Gondi’s
Family – their coat of arms is still on the olive
press entrance. At the beginning of the XIX century,
they gave the farmland and the mansion to Galli Family,
those were from Firenze, too.
Therefore The ‘Monte Farm’ became the Summer
Holiday Mansion for Galli bishop - we keep his coat
of arms- He changed the plant adding the chapel.

In
1926 Ambrogio Viganò bought the mansion; he was
a textile business man from Brianza. We are his heires
and we are going on his way, improving the lands production,
by new vines and modern olive trees .
We renovated the old Villa, the
XIX century chapel and the garden, paying attention
to the style. Up to now we have been working on the
rest of the plant – the farmland shared in 4 with
four farmer houses – realizing apartments for
high level Agriturismo and B&B.
